The ship you see before you is the USCGC Lilac, a veteran of the water that holds a unique title in American maritime history. Launched in 1933, she is the only surviving steam-powered lighthouse tender in the entire United States. While most ships of her era have long since been scrapped or lost to the sea, the Lilac remains a preserved artifact of a bygone age of navigation.
