The Environmental Education Center occupies a building at 99 Plymouth Street that once served as a water meter testing facility for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection. In 2014, this industrial structure underwent a transformation, repurposing the former utility site into a hub for public science and environmental discovery. The building features salvaged longleaf yellow pine wood at its base, which was recovered from warehouses demolished during the initial construction of Brooklyn Bridge Park.
