Gleason's Gym

Gleason's Gym began in 1937 in the Bronx under the direction of a former bantamweight fighter named Peter Robert Gagliardi. He adopted the name Bobby Gleason for his business because the neighborhood was predominantly Irish, and he believed an Irish name would be better for his bottom line. His instincts were correct, and the gym quickly established itself as a premier destination for professional fighters.
