Main Street Park

Main Street Park sits on a waterfront that has been fundamentally reshaped by human hands over the last two centuries. In the early eighteen hundreds, the shoreline sat significantly further inland, roughly along the line of Water Street. Brooklyn residents systematically pushed the boundary of the neighborhood five hundred feet into the East River by dumping fill material, a massive engineering effort that created the very land this park occupies today.
