Our Lady of the Snows Square marks the intersection of Graham Avenue, Herbert Street, and Meeker Avenue. Local leaders dedicated this space in May of 1982 to honor the Society of Saint Mary of the Snow, a cornerstone of the neighborhood's Italian immigrant history. The society, which was founded in 1888 by immigrants from the Italian mountain town of Sanza, served as a vital mutual aid organization. It provided new arrivals with job leads, housing assistance, and even free medical care from a dedicated society doctor during the early decades of the twentieth century.
