America's Response Monument

The bronze statue standing in Liberty Park is known as the Horse Soldier Statue. It depicts a Green Beret mounted on a horse while navigating the rugged terrain of Afghanistan. This work serves as the first publicly accessible monument in the United States dedicated to the Army Special Forces. It commemorates the soldiers of Task Force Dagger, who were among the first Americans to deploy to Afghanistan in the weeks following the September 11 attacks. Their mission involved unconventional warfare, leading them to operate on horseback while coordinating with local forces to challenge the Taliban regime.
