St. Paul's Chapel

St. Paul's Chapel opened in seventeen sixty-six as a place for the congregation of Trinity Church to worship without traveling to the main parish. At the time, it stood in a field and was the tallest building in the city. Its construction predates the United States itself, making it the oldest surviving church building in Manhattan and the oldest public building in the borough still in continuous use.
