Knickerbocker Theatre (Broadway)

The Knickerbocker Theatre once stood at thirteen ninety-six Broadway, serving as a beacon of entertainment long before the Garment District transformed this corner into an industrial hub. It originally opened in eighteen ninety-three as Abbey's Theatre, named after the prominent producer Henry Abbey, and hosted some of the finest actors of the Victorian era, including Sir Henry Irving and Ellen Terry. When the theatre was rechristened the Knickerbocker in eighteen ninety-six, it became a staple for Edwardian musical comedies and operettas, cementing its place in the vibrant cultural life of the late nineteenth century.
