Intrepid Museum

The aircraft carrier before you, the USS Intrepid, earned the nickname The Fighting I during World War Two. It earned this title because it endured five separate kamikaze attacks and a torpedo strike, yet somehow managed to return to service every time. Japanese forces often referred to it as the Ghost Ship because they frequently assumed it had been destroyed, only to see it reappear on the horizon to continue the fight.
