USAir 1549 Landing Spot

You are standing near the stretch of the Hudson River where US Airways Flight 1549 performed an emergency water landing on January 15, 2009. Shortly after departing LaGuardia Airport, the Airbus A320 struck a flock of Canada geese, which caused a complete loss of power in both engines. Captain Chesley Sullenberger determined that the aircraft could not reach any nearby airports, so he chose to guide the plane toward this section of the river, near the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum. The ditching occurred at approximately three thirty in the afternoon, with the aircraft touching down on the water at roughly one hundred and twenty-five miles per hour.
