Pershing Square Signature Center

cultural

The Pershing Square Signature Center occupies a unique position in Manhattan as the first major theater complex built in the city since the construction of Lincoln Center. Opened in 2012, this seventy thousand square foot facility was designed by the renowned architect Frank Gehry. Its creation serves as a dedicated home for the Signature Theatre Company, an institution famously committed to devoting entire seasons to the work of individual living playwrights. The project itself was realized through a complex public and private partnership involving the city and private donors, effectively embedding a high-profile cultural landmark into the base of a towering residential skyscraper.
