New Victory Theater

The New Victory Theater is the oldest surviving theater in New York City. Built in 1900 by the legendary impresario Oscar Hammerstein the First, it originally opened as the Theatre Republic. Its facade still features the same Venetian Renaissance style that greeted theatergoers at the dawn of the twentieth century, including the grand double staircase and ornate standing globe lamps that you see from the sidewalk today.
