The Museum of Broadway opened in November 2022 as the first permanent institution dedicated to the history and experience of the theater district. Founders Julie Boardman and Diane Nicoletti spent years planning the space to bridge a gap, as New York City previously lacked a single site to house the scattered artifacts and narratives of its most famous industry. Its location on West 45th Street is deliberate, placing it directly within the current theater district and immediately next to the Lyceum Theatre, which remains the oldest continuously operating Broadway house.
