AIA New York | Center for Architecture

The Center for Architecture occupies a unique space in Greenwich Village as both a professional headquarters and a public gallery dedicated to the built environment. While it serves as the home for the American Institute of Architects New York chapter, its primary mission is to demystify architecture for everyone, not just those in the field. The building itself is an example of thoughtful urban design, featuring a specialized geothermal system installed deep beneath the sidewalk to regulate the temperature of the galleries year-round. This system reaches over twelve hundred feet into the bedrock, using the earth’s constant temperature to heat and cool the facility.
