Duarte Square

Duarte Square is a small triangular park that sits at the intersection of Canal Street, Grand Street, and the Avenue of the Americas. In the seventeenth century, this entire patch of land was part of a sprawling farm owned by Trinity Church. By the early twentieth century, the construction of the Holland Tunnel completely transformed the area, turning what was once quiet farmland into a bustling hub of industrial traffic.
