You are approaching the site of the legendary Half Note Club, which stood at the corner of Hudson and Spring Streets from 1957 until 1972. Before it became a jazz institution, the space was a gritty, hard-drinking bar called the Zombie Bar. The Canterino family transformed it into a landmark where jazz legends like John Coltrane and Charles Mingus performed on a stage that was literally constructed from leftover wooden shipping pallets.
