SoHo Playhouse

In the mid nineteenth century, this building served as a mission house for the Children's Aid Society. The organization was founded to provide shelter, education, and vocational training for the thousands of orphaned and homeless children roaming the streets of New York City at that time. These mission houses operated as essential community centers where the vulnerable could access basic necessities and begin the process of finding employment or apprenticeships.
