The High Line Interim Walkway represents a unique chapter in the life of this elevated park. Before the permanent, finished landscape you see elsewhere was installed, this northernmost stretch was kept in a simplified, temporary state to preserve the industrial character of the old rail line. It functioned as a raw, transitional space that highlighted the site's history as a freight corridor before its final integration into the completed park system.
