Wizard of Park Ave Clock

historic

The bronze clock mounted on the corner of the building at 470 Park Avenue South is a relic of New York City’s industrial past. Installed in 1926, it was custom-made for the headquarters of the Schwarzenbach-Huber Company, a major silk merchant of the era. The ornate exterior is decorated with sculpted mulberry leaves and silkworms, a direct nod to the company’s business of manufacturing silk from cocoons.
