Lefcourt Colonial Building

The Lefcourt Colonial Building stands as a reminder of the frantic boom and bust of the late nineteen twenties. Completed in nineteen thirty, this forty-five-story skyscraper was one of the final projects of Abraham E. Lefcourt, a developer who climbed from a childhood as a newsboy to commanding a massive real estate empire. The tower displays neo-Gothic features, specifically its striking blue terra-cotta medallions and gilded finials, which were designed to catch the eye of anyone looking up from the busy streets of midtown Manhattan.
