Robert Moses Playground

Robert Moses Playground occupies a unique position in the urban landscape, sharing its single city block with the massive ventilation tower for the Queens-Midtown Tunnel. The park was established in 1941 as part of the infrastructure project for that tunnel, which was itself one of the many massive construction undertakings overseen by Robert Moses. The site is a rare, direct memorial to the man, as it remains the only public park in New York City officially named in his honor.
