Puck Building

You are standing before the Puck Building, a massive red-brick structure that occupies an entire city block. When it was completed in the late nineteenth century, it functioned as the largest lithographic printing operation under one roof in the entire world. The building was designed specifically to house Puck, the first successful American magazine of political satire and the first weekly publication to feature color lithography. The magazine took its name from the mischievous character in William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, whose statue remains a defining detail of the facade today.
