You are standing in front of the global headquarters of Citigroup, a towering complex that serves as a central anchor in the Tribeca neighborhood. The primary skyscraper at three hundred eighty-eight Greenwich Street was completed in nineteen eighty-eight, originally serving as the Shearson Lehman Plaza. For years, the building was famously topped by a massive fifty-foot-tall red neon umbrella, the corporate logo of the Travelers Group, which was eventually removed after the company merged with Citicorp to form the modern Citigroup. Inside, the building features rare double-deck elevators, a design choice meant to efficiently move the thousands of employees who fill these floors every day.
