Decker Building

The Decker Building, standing at thirty-three Union Square West, is a striking example of late nineteenth-century architecture that blends Moorish Revival and Venetian Gothic styles. Completed in eighteen ninety-three, it originally served as the headquarters for the Decker Brothers Piano Company. Its facade features intricate terra cotta ornamentation, horseshoe arches, and geometric patterns that once included a domed minaret crowning the corner. At the time of its completion, the building rose eleven stories, making it the tallest structure on the square.
