The Soul building rises as a glass tower with a jagged, blue-tinted silhouette above the Surfers Paradise foreshore. It stands on the former site of the iconic Beachcomber Hotel, a low-rise relic that hosted the Gold Coast's early tourism boom for decades. Developers demolished the hotel in two thousand eight to clear the way for this project. Construction crews faced years of technical delays during the aftermath of the global financial crisis, finally completing the tower in two thousand twelve.
