Banff Park Museum National Historic Site

The Banff Park Museum is a two-story log building with dark, overhanging eaves and patterned wood shingles that look like a cabin from a Victorian fairytale. Built in nineteen oh three, this structure houses a collection of taxidermy, rocks, and local plants intended to teach early tourists about the rugged wilderness they came to visit. Norman Sanson, the curator for decades, spent his days here cataloging specimens while his sister, Amelia, carefully typed up the museum records on a small, manual typewriter.
