Bow River Bridge

The Bow River Bridge is a concrete arch structure spanning the rushing water with a distinct, weathered stone facade. It replaced a precarious wooden trestle that collapsed under the weight of a heavy coal wagon in nineteen eleven. When the current bridge opened in nineteen twenty-one, the architect chose local Rundle stone to ensure the design blended into the surrounding mountain landscape. It remains the primary crossing for those entering the town, connecting the train station to the main street shops.
