Pasaje Adriana Cousiño

The Pasaje Adriana Cousiño features a continuous, repetitive row of brightly painted neoclassical facades lining a narrow, pedestrian-only street in the Portales neighborhood. Built in the late nineteenth century to house workers for the nearby railway workshops, it remains one of the few intact examples of industrial-era social housing in Santiago. Adriana Cousiño, the daughter of a wealthy mining magnate, donated the land for the project, intending to improve living conditions for laborers. The neighborhood still holds its quiet, enclosed atmosphere.
