Conjunto Virginia Opazo

The Conjunto Virginia Opazo consists of four rows of matching, three-story houses that turn their backs on the busy street to face a private, tree-lined path. Architect Luciano Kulczewski designed the complex in nineteen forty-two for middle-class residents. He famously used local materials and incorporated European styles, giving the facades curved balconies and decorative brickwork. During the project, he fought constantly with the investors over his lavish details, ultimately spending more money than they wanted to complete the intricate carvings.
