The Precious Blood Church features an imposing neo-Gothic facade of dark brick and stone, topped by a tall, slender central spire that reaches above the surrounding neighborhood of Brasil. Built in the late nineteenth century by the Sisters of the Precious Blood, this sanctuary served as a convent chapel before the order eventually moved away. The building survived several major earthquakes that leveled nearby homes, enduring as a stubborn anchor for the local community long after the original residents departed.
