Correo Central Building

The Correo Central building in Santiago features a distinct French neoclassical facade with a prominent central dome and a clock tower. Originally built in eighteen eighty-two, it occupies the site where the colonial governors of Chile once lived. During the late nineteenth century, the architect Ricardo Brown designed this structure to serve as the main post office for the capital. Workers finished the exterior in a ornate style that reflected the European tastes popular among the Chilean elite of that era.
