Terraza Neptuno

The Terraza Neptuno sits halfway up Cerro Santa Lucía, marked by its neoclassical balustrades and the central fountain of the god Neptune. Benjamín Vicuña Mackenna oversaw the conversion of this rocky hill into a public promenade in the eighteen seventies. He imported the fountain from France to serve as a decorative centerpiece for the terrace. Workers carved the stone paths directly into the hillside, creating a viewing platform that offered residents a clear vantage point over the growing capital city below.
