Gabriela Mistral Cultural Centre

The Gabriela Mistral Cultural Centre is defined by its rusted, weathered steel facade and an expansive, sloping roof that stretches toward the street. Originally built in nineteen seventy-two, the structure served as a high-tech congress building before the military coup one year later. During the dictatorship, it functioned as the regime’s headquarters. In the nineteen eighties, a massive fire gutted much of the interior, leaving the concrete skeleton exposed until its transformation into a public space dedicated to the arts and community dialogue.
