The Ocho y Medio cinema features a bright red facade that stands out against the surrounding colonial walls of the La Floresta neighborhood. This cultural center occupies a converted warehouse once used for industrial storage. Since two thousand two, the space has served as an independent film house, providing a home for international and Ecuadorian directors whose work rarely reaches commercial theaters. Every year, it hosts the Cero Latitud film festival, drawing local filmmakers to discuss their latest projects in the small courtyard.
