Square Amadou-Hampaté Bâ

The Square Amadou-Hampaté Bâ is defined by a dense canopy of mature trees that hang over a modest, gated garden hidden from the street. It occupies a site once home to a nineteenth-century reservoir, designed to supply water to a rapidly growing neighborhood. When the reservoir was removed, the city laid out this quiet space and named it for the Malian writer and ethnologist who spent his final years in the area, recording the oral traditions of West Africa for future generations.
