Saint-Antoine des Quinze-Vingts

The twin towers of Saint-Antoine des Quinze-Vingts rise above the neighborhood, topped by pointed copper spires that turn green with age. This church serves the hospital of the same name, a foundation reaching back to King Louis the Ninth. He created a residence for three hundred blind men—fifteen times twenty—after his return from the Crusades. The original facility stood near the Louvre, but the church moved to this site in the late nineteenth century, preserving a legacy of care.
