Vigne de la butte Bergeyre

park garden

The Vigne de la butte Bergeyre is a steep, hidden vineyard clinging to the side of a former gypsum quarry. It occupies a terraced slope that developers once intended to cover with apartment blocks, but a local association successfully campaigned to preserve the patch of earth instead. They planted pinot noir and chasselas grapes there in nineteen ninety-three. Today, the vines sit surrounded by a tall metal fence, overlooking the rooftops of the nineteenth arrondissement toward the distant dome of Sacre Coeur.
