Salle du Manège

The Salle du Manège stands as a long, rectangular building that once served as the royal riding school for the Tuileries Palace. In seventeen eighty-nine, the National Assembly moved into this space, transforming a riding arena into the primary theater of the French Revolution. Here, deputies debated the end of feudalism and the fate of King Louis the Sixteenth. The building was demolished in eighteen oh three to make way for the extension of the Rue de Rivoli, leaving behind only historical maps.
