Its stone quays once held barges delivering wine, grain, and timber into the heart of Paris, serving as a vital industrial port for the city. In eighteen forty-eight, during the June Days uprising, barricades rose along these banks, and the water became a backdrop for intense street fighting. Today, the commercial ships are gone, replaced by rows of leisure boats moored in the quiet basin.
