Schola Cantorum de Paris

The Schola Cantorum occupies the former convent of the Benedictines of the Blessed Sacrament on Rue Saint-Jacques. Its seventeenth-century stone facade hides an interior courtyard that still retains its original cloister layout. In eighteen ninety-four, Charles Bordes founded this music school to revive Gregorian chant and the polyphony of the Renaissance. While the heavy doors stay closed to the public, the sound of piano scales and orchestral rehearsals often spills out onto the quiet street from the high, arched windows above.
