Luxembourg Gardens

The Luxembourg Gardens hold a distinct, gravel-dusted layout defined by the wide, octagonal basin at the center of the park. Marie de Medici ordered the construction in sixteen twelve, intending to recreate the Pitti Palace from her native Florence. She wanted a home that carried the spirit of Tuscany into the heart of Paris. The original plan remained unfinished after her exile, yet the gardens persisted, evolving into the green lungs of the Left Bank where statues of French queens watch over the children.
