Serres du Jardin du Luxembourg

The greenhouse at the Jardin du Luxembourg features a long, low glass facade framed in distinctively pale, cast-iron ribs. Built in eighteen thirty-nine, this structure serves as a winter sanctuary for the garden’s collection of citrus trees and exotic palms. During the French Revolution, the original orangery was demolished, leaving the collection exposed to the elements. These current greenhouses arrived decades later to protect the delicate plants, which the gardeners still roll out onto the gravel paths every single spring.
