Cour Damoye

The Cour Damoye is a narrow, cobblestone alley that cuts away from the busy Place de la Bastille, marked by a rusted iron gate that stands slightly ajar. Once a bustling center for wholesale coffee traders in the nineteenth century, the passage retains the uneven paving and weathered brick facades from its working days. Pierre Damoye, a local merchant, bought the land to house his import business. Inside, heavy sacks of beans were hauled across these stones by laborers until the mid-twentieth century.
