Museum of Freemasonry

The Museum of Freemasonry sits at the headquarters of the Grand Orient de France, which serves as the oldest and largest Masonic organization in the country. You are standing near the site of a collection that was famously looted during the Second World War. When the Nazis occupied Paris, they seized thousands of documents and artifacts, many of which were transported to Moscow by the KGB after the war and remained there for decades. It was not until the year two thousand that a significant portion of these stolen historical archives was finally returned to the museum.
