MEP – Maison Européenne de la Photographie

The Maison Européenne de la Photographie is defined by a heavy stone facade that anchors the corner of rue de Fourcy and rue de Jouy. This building functions as a dedicated museum for contemporary photography, housed in an eighteenth-century hôtel particulier that was once the residence of the Hénault de Cantobre family. In the nineteen eighties, the city of Paris acquired the derelict structure. They restored it to display images, replacing the grand private halls with clinical, white-walled galleries designed specifically for light-sensitive prints.
