The Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature occupies a pair of seventeenth-century mansions on the Rue des Archives. Its facade features stone carvings of stags and boars, signaling the collection within. Founded in nineteen sixty-four by François and Jacqueline Sommer, the museum gathers antique firearms, taxidermy, and art focused on the human relationship with animals. The Sommers, both avid hunters and conservationists, filled these rooms with the objects they gathered during their travels, turning a private collection into a public study of wildlife.
