Musée de l'Homme

The Musée de lHomme occupies the Passy wing of the Palais de Chaillot, a building constructed for the nineteen thirty seven World Fair. Its founder, the anthropologist Paul Rivet, established the institution to explore human evolution through biological, social, and cultural lenses. This site serves as both a public museum and a specialized research center under the authority of the National Museum of Natural History. Visitors walk through a narrative organized around three fundamental questions: where do we come from, what are we, and where are we going. The galleries house significant specimens, including original Cro-Magnon and Neanderthal fossils, as well as the twenty five thousand year old Venus of Lespugue figurine.
