The Theatre of the Oppressed in Paris serves as a global hub for a revolutionary acting methodology created by Brazilian visionary Augusto Boal. After being kidnapped, arrested, and tortured by the military dictatorship in his home country for his subversive street performances, Boal sought refuge in exile. He settled in Paris, where he established the Centre du Théâtre de l'Opprimé in 1979 to continue his work.
