Passerelle de l'Impératrice

The Passerelle de l'Impératrice is a covered metal footbridge that served as a private passage for Empress Eugénie, the wife of Napoleon the Third. It connects the Gare Saint-Lazare train station directly to the former Hotel Terminus, now the Hilton Paris Opera. In the nineteenth century, this walkway allowed the Empress and other elite travelers to move between the station and their luxury accommodations without ever stepping out into the public street. Local legend even suggests the passage let certain guests transit between the hotel and the station while still wearing their pajamas. TOPIC_DONE
