The Hôtel de Charost stands as the official residence of the British ambassador to France, a role it has occupied since the nineteenth century. Built in the seventeen twenties for the Duke of Charost, this private mansion later became the home of Pauline Borghese, the favorite sister of Napoleon Bonaparte. She lived here in immense luxury, transforming the residence into a showcase of Empire style with lavish decor and custom-built wings designed to house her expansive art collection and host massive state dinners.
